Speaking Engagements

Larry Verbit is often asked to speak at various continuing legal education seminars. Larry recently was a panelist for a Zoom Seminar on “Advising Film & TV Clients About COVID-19 Legal Issues” in planning to return to production with more than 170 lawyers in attendance. He also served as program chair and moderator for a panel presentation entitled “Are You Covered? Or Naked and Afraid” focusing on production insurance issues; and for “The Pitfalls of Employment” addressing employment issues for entertainment companies and previously was program chair for panels on “Clearance in Film and Television”, and “The Pros and Cons of Talent Agency Packaging,” all sponsored by the Beverly Hills Bar Association. In September, 2012 he monitored a panel at The WestDoc 2012 Conference on “Celebreality: The Inside of Reality Talent Agreements.” Together with Brian Edwards, President of Television Operations at MGM, Mr. Verbit was one of two panelists on a Nuts and Bolts of the Entertainment Business: Gaining a Competitive Edge By Understanding the Legal and Business Complexities of the Ever Changing Marketplace program sponsored by the Barrister’s Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar. This program also was Webcast throughout the country and is offered on DVD for continuing education of lawyers. He also served as moderator and panelist for a program sponsored by the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association on Cable Television – Trends, Parameters and Deal Points Experienced by Production Companies in Current Cable Transactions.

Teaching

Mr. Verbit has served as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Law School where he taught Television Production Law. Southwestern’s entertainment law program has been rated as high as fourth in the nation by The Hollywood Reporter
